Grenland Bridge

posted by admin in , , Uncategorized

Grenland Bridge (in Norwegian Grenlandsbrua) is Norway’s highest cable-stayed bridge with a tower height of 166 meters. The bridge, which opened in 1996, is on route E18. It crosses the Frierfjord, a fjord which separates the municipalities of Porsgrunn and Bamble in Telemark county. When built, it replaced Brevik Bridge as the primary route across the fjord.

The bridge, which is 608 meters long, uses the cable stayed construction to provide a clearance for vessels of 50 meters above sea level. The stay cables are arranged in 21 cable pairs with lengths from 84 to 287 meters.
